About me
My name is Anna Pou van den Bossche, and I am an Art historian devoted to the dissemination of art through every possible channel of communication: television, radio, digital media, articles, and books. My approach is interdisciplinary, exploring works of art through philosophy, literature, and music, because I believe that every era possesses its own zeitgeist—its particular spirit—which finds expression across all artistic forms. I strive to make complex ideas accessible, combining clarity and pedagogy with depth and intellectual rigour. I firmly believe that academic knowledge and public outreach must go hand in hand, now more than ever. Only in this way can art truly contribute to building a more thoughtful and enriched society.
A glimpse into my career
For more than twenty-five years, I have been teaching Art History courses, classes, and lecture series at universities, museums, and cultural institutions. I am a lecturer at the International University of Catalonia, the University of Barcelona, the Antoni Gaudí Faculty, as well as institutions such as l’Escola Massana, l’Escola d’Història de l’Art de Barcelona, and university extension programs. A relevant part of my career has taken place in Germany, where I worked at the l’Instituto Cervantes de Munich: there I founded Ars et Cervantes, a project in collaboration with schools in Bavaria and the Pinakotheken in Munich. I founded Agora Cultural Services, where I designed and directed educational projects for institutions such as CaixaForum, The Sagrada Familia, The Museum of the History of Catalonia, the Antoni Tàpies Foundation and La Pedrera.
One of the main focuses of my research is Salvador Dalí. My doctoral thesis is titled Dalí and Cybernetics and wrote the book Dalí_art_science_cybernetics with an introduction by Montse Aguer, director of the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation. I collaborate regularly with this institution and I curated Cybernetic Dalí, Immersive exhibition on a world tour from 2022 to 2027. I am the curator of the l’IDEAL Centre d’Arts Digitals, with immersive exhibitions like Monet, Barcelona photographic memory or Leonardo vs. Michelangelo I created the Digital Museum Casa Amatller. In terms of territory, I have curated exhibitions in Empordà, linked to local artists. Currently, I am collaborating with the Picasso Museum Barcelona on project “Territory of Creation”: Picasso's Catalan Roots," a research and exhibition proposal exploring the cultural and geographic context in the artist’s development.
My professional trajectory has been acknowledged with several awards and distinctions, including the Premi Fundació UPC to Excellence in Teaching Quality and Innovation (2024), as well as the awards Què Fem i Revolució 4.0 for Cybernetic Dalí. I have been granted scholarships such as the Spanish Ministry of Education's Research Personnel Training Fellowship, European programs such as Erasmus, and grants from the Generalitat de Catalunya for research and cultural curatorial projects, such as the grant awarded to celebrate Marià Fortuny's 100th Anniversary at the Ateneu Barcelonès in 2025.
In parallel, I keep a continuous presence in the media as an Art expert: I collaborate with 3cat (Planta Baixa, La Selva…) and with Betevé (Artic, Tot Art) and create content for programs and documentaries like This is Art. I have also participated in radio programs with Catalunya Radio (La Tarda) as a specialized collaborator.
I am the author of several books and articles primarily devoted to Dalí and Goya. I have also published monographs on Picasso, Miró, and Contemporary Art published by Lunwerg, La Central, Planeta Agostini, Folio, Peter Lang, Minoria Absoluta, Ara Llibres, or the Barcelona Provincial Council. I have regularly collaborated with magazines such as El Temps de les Arts, The World of Yesterday or ArtPúblic (Barcelona Provincial Council).
What I think about art
Art is a universal language and a shared heritage that belongs to everyone. No work of art is reserved for a select audience, for art is never univocal. Even as time passes, a work continues to generate meaning; it is never truly exhausted. There is no superior art and inferior art, no art for the initiated and another for the ignorant: art belongs to us all.
