Until his final exile, Catalonia remained the setting for experiences that deeply shaped both his personality and his artistic career.

Guided visit to the Picasso Museum Collection
Led by the Public Programs team of the Museum
The Picasso Museum of Barcelona is the key reference centre for understanding Pablo Picasso’s formative years. Its Collection, comprising more than 5,000 works, is an exceptional assembly of pieces created in Málaga, A Coruña, Barcelona, Madrid, and Horta de Sant Joan. It bears witness both to the artist’s solid academic training and to his strong artistic personality and emerging creative freedom. In addition, the Collection includes the complete series of Las Meninas, where he created his personal interpretation of Velázquez’s homonymous painting, a remarkable collection of graphic works, and the group of 41 ceramics donated by Jacqueline Picasso in 1982.
Itinerary through Picasso’s Barcelona
The Barcelona that Picasso knew during his adolescence and early youth is still alive today in the corners and narrow streets, cafés, and squares where he walked, lived, and learned to see. The personal relationships Picasso developed during his time there—family, friends, teachers, artists—will be the starting point of an itinerary led by an expert guide that will take us to discover Picasso’s Barcelona.
